Call for applications:
​AMAT/AHAA Award for Young Investigators

​The Association of Hungarian American Academicians (AHAA) – Amerikai Magyar Akadémikusok Társasága (AMAT), a non-profit charitable organization, is accepting applications for the AMAT Young Investigator Award sponsored by Prof. Miklós Bodor. The award supports original research by Hungarian scientists living in Hungary or in the Carpathian Basin.

Eligibility: The application is open for graduate students working for their PhD degree or scientists with a PhD under the age of 35, in the fields of mathematics, natural (physical and life sciences), and social sciences.

Award: There will be one $3,000 USD award that can be used to support research and the scientific development of the awardee. The awardees are required to submit a final report within a year detailing how the award was spent.

Applicants should submit the following: 

  • one-page summary of their former research
  • short resume with a list of publications
  • short (maximum 3 minutes) video explaining why the applicant should receive the award

The documents and a link to the video should be sent to Prof. Gabor Tigyi, Secretary-Treasurer of the Association (gtigyi@uthsc.edu) before April 1, 2020. All application materials and the video should be in the English language.

The winner will be announced on May 4, 2020 during the Annual General Assembly of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. The announcement will be posted on the AMAT website and the winner will be notified via email.
